Calvert Ice is designed to be an unrivaled ice sports co-educational prep school in the United States designed for high-achieving student athletes in grades 9-12 to become successful in both their sport and in life beyond their ice career.

Our world class experience includes a facility that has four full-size rinks to serve as a premier destination for youth ice sports tournaments and competitions. Our campus, situated on nearly 13 acres in Holly Springs, NC, a suburb of Raleigh, NC, will feature the most comprehensive training and academic facility for ice sports in North America.

Ice sports offerings will go beyond our academy-based programs. Members of the public will be able to participate in learn-to-skate, youth and adult hockey leagues, youth and adult figure skating, synchronized skating, and even curling programs.

Facility

Calvert Ice is an intentionally designed, first class facility that is more than an ice sports facility. It is a campus designed to train and educate ice sport athletes in a world class setting. With its four rinks, Calvert Ice will also be a destination for youth and adult hockey leagues, figure skating, major national and international tournaments, and competitions.

Off the ice, Calvert Ice is a comprehensive entertainment and training facility. For academy students who will call Calvert Ice home, there will be an innovative school with a modern residential building for boarding students. For athletes, our training facilities will include an expansive weight room, sprint track, a dance studio, video rooms, and more. And for visitors and spectators, our entertainment amenities will include a full-service restaurant with wine bar and taproom.

Our program is “different by design” so each student obtains an education that will prepare them to thrive throughout their college and professional careers.

Calvert Athletes will have access to the best educators and coaches to maximize each student's experience and enable them to grow as students, athletes, and leaders.

The core of the academic program will be a 21st century education designed to equip our students for the world in which they will live. Special emphasis will be placed on analytical and critical thinking, core content, collaboration, and leadership.

Our ice sports focus will enable us to ensure each athlete reaches their full potential. Teams in our hockey program will compete at the highest levels across North America, focusing on U18 and U16 prep school-based teams. Figure skaters will be entered into the appropriate level of competition for their development. All Calvert Athletes will have full access to on- and off-ice training facilities throughout their day.

Ice Sports Programs

When it comes to ice sports, our program goes beyond our academy-based hockey and competitive figure skating programs. From learn-to-skate programs to youth hockey programs and adult leagues to youth figure skating, synchronized skating, and even curling programs, Calvert Ice Sports will have it all under one roof.

All athletes will be trained in the Calvert way by our team of expert coaches and staff. Our "different by design" approach will ensure athletes have the highest level of training and development, which includes access to our training facilities.

Our hockey programs will include levels from house teams to competitive travel teams. For figure skaters, we will offer training for beginners to serious competitors with Olympic aspirations and every level in between.

The performance center will feature a state-of-the-art weight room, sprint track, and more. It will also have specialized spaces, such as an off-ice shooting range and dance studio space. Our athletes will take classes in nutrition, sports science, and mental conditioning, all taught by leaders in their field.

Leadership Development

During their time in our program, Calvert Athletes will learn leadership skills to set a foundation of discipline required to balance sports and academics and other vocational pursuits.

Through a partnership with the Shelton Leadership Center at North Carolina State University, Calvert Athletes will experience programs, camps, seminars, and integrated training programs designed to build and hone leadership characteristics.

Character will be cultivated and consistently modeled by our staff and further evaluated and encouraged through high athletic and academic standards. Students' character will be continually nurtured and strengthened through commitment, integrity, respect, teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work.

Calvert Athletes will have ample opportunity to build necessary life skills for a lifetime of purpose and achievement. From social etiquette to financial literacy, effective communication, and business acumen, they will be challenged to think beyond their sports and take responsibility for their future success.

With our rinks and our outstanding location, we are the perfect place to host a competition or tournament. Calvert Ice Sports is a 30-minute drive from downtown Raleigh and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport in a rapidly growing area of southern Wake County, North Carolina.

Located in a 396-acre mixed use development, Calvert Ice Sports is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants within the development and short driving distance of other nearby retail development and the town of Holly Springs.
